Welcome to On the Radar, where we preview up-and-coming arts events to mark your calendar for. Next Wednesday, everyone's favorite gay, straight-talkin', potty-mouthed sex advice columnist, Dan Savage, visits USF Tampa as part of the University Lecture Series. Bring your hammer: it's time to put another nail "Dear Abby's" coffin.

Amid the rumors that his "Savage Love" syndicated weekly column could be HBO-ified for sex- and cable-loving audiences across the nation, the busy writer and Editor of The Stranger visits to provide witty insight to the masses of Tampa Bay at "Savage Love Live"— but be forewarned: his answers are often unexpected, but they're never couched in compliments. If you're one of the brave souls who approaches the mic during the question and answer session, may I suggest a raincoat in the likely case that you'll be weathering a shitstorm?

His advice covers everything from well-meaning Savage-isms like "DTMFA" (Dump That Mother Fucker Already), to serious subjects like rape and abuse. Ocassionally, he'll even take advice from his adoring legions of fans — like his decision to drop "retarded" for "leotarded." Weds., Sept. 23, 7 p.m., University of South Florida Marshall Center, 4202 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa, uls.usf.edu for tickets and info.
