The latest neighborhood to jump on the art-festival bandwagon is Historic Kenwood, which debuts its First Annual Art in the Park today. More than 30 Bay area artists display their original creations at the scenic Seminole Park, among them, Meghan Hogan, who creates stunning (and sometimes light-enhanced) mixed-media abstracts and installations inspired by the colors and motion of water, and Laura Mae Dooris, who uses a process that involves acrylic paints, printmaking techniques and collage to create her thematic mixed-media paintings. A range of other media is represented — including pottery, glass, photography and jewelry — and several artists stage live demonstrations of their techniques. All of this is presented against a backdrop of live music by local performers. A portion of proceeds from art sales benefit Creative Clay, a St. Petersburg-based nonprofit arts organization. Sat., Oct. 13, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Third Avenue N. and 29th Street N., St. Petersburg, free admission, historickenwood.org.
