The trio of Caliornia comics who formed the original Reduced Shakespeare Company went on to international fame by reducing a seemingly impenetrable amount of information into droll, easy-to-digest bites; the complete works of Shakespeare, the history of America and even the Bible have all been subject to their comic condensing. Tampa Bay audiences have already been treated to Jobsite's version of these abridged antics; now St. Pete's American Stage takes a turn, producing the most recent Reduced endeavor, All The Great Books (abridged). In this fast-paced introduction to Western literature, three actors breeze through 90 minutes' worth of texts, from The Iliad to Moby Dick to Harry Potter; Karen Lamb directs. Nov. 2-Dec. 3, 7:30 p.m. Tues.-Thurs., 8 p.m. Fri., 3 and 8 p.m. Sat., 3 p.m. Sun., American Stage, 211 Third St. S., St. Petersburg, $22 preview (Thurs., Nov. 2)/$35 opening night (Fri., Nov. 3)/$26-$32 general/$8.50 children ($10 student rush tickets available 10 minutes prior to curtain), 727-823-7529, www.americanstage.org.
