Short sleeves and sunshine in November make it difficult to get into the holiday spirit, but for those of us determined to celebrate the season sans rosy cheeks and frozen streets, Hyde Park Village has a plan. Its annual Enchanted Tree Lighting is a mistletoe-laced, hot cocoa-injected dose of holiday hoopla with live music by Mystic Soul, $5 carriage rides, strolling carolers, a dance performance by the Florida Art School, the lighting of the village's 30-foot tree and a visit by old St. Nick himself. Balloon sculptors, face painters, stilt walkers and The Fritzy Bros. One-Man Circus & Co. should keep the kids dazzled and distracted if the festivities aren't enough, and free cookies and cider should help you recharge after enduring the hordes of rabid black Friday sale seekers.
