Phoenix in Common

Music Thursday, August 30

Two Gainseville, Fla.-based music projects featuring singer/songwriter Rain Phoenix — a member of the infamous Hollywood clan — headline a show at Crowbar this Thursday night. In Papercranes, Phoenix's ethereal, breathily sweet vocals accompany moody, melodic indie rock that is utterly enchanting. Textual began as an experiment in computer-generated instrumental music by The Mercury Program producer/multi-instrumentalist Dave Lebleu and morphed into a down-tempo electro pop collaboration with Phoenix. (The pair are usually joined by a full backup band when on tour.) The Tampa bill also includes sets by Summerbirds in the Cellar, The Vera Violets and I Love U. Thurs., Aug. 30, 9 p.m., Crowbar, 1812 N. 17th St., Ybor City, $8 (18 and up), 813-241-8600, aestheticized.com.
