Pimpin Commish gets the boot, Rashid's stable founders, and power broker wannabe is good for a laugh!

4. Sam Rashid oops I mean Josh Burgin lost to Commissioner Mark Sharpe, proving that Rashid supported the wrong horse, again. His little gelding just couldn't get it done. Rashid and his company also gave the maximum amount of $$ to Kevin White as recent as August 12, 2010 according to campaign finance reports. The Sultan is down three Commishes in the last two elections, including Brian Blair (who also lost his race this Tuesday).  Maybe the former power broker should call Campo (see #2) to get another game plan together, being the major players that they are. Good luck boys. According to finance reports online Rashid also contributed to Sandra Murman who did survive the District 1 primary and considering he spent a fortune of last minute cash attacking Sharpe  I wonder if he will do the same thing against Dingfelder in that race? The crippled nags in his political stable are not winning many races these days. This is what happens when you buy cheap or lame stock and don't look enough at pedigree boys.  Eventually it all unravels. Training is another important key............if your animals are not intelligent enough to take cues without looking like ill-behaved monkeys (see Blair, Brian) or one trick ponies (see Burgin, Josh) then spend a little more money on a steed with something upstairs and you might have better luck. I think politicians are probably just like horses, always buy the best one you can afford, especially if you want to maintain a power broker title.

5. Cheating golf sensation Tiger Woods is finally divorced and free to hook up with as many porn stars as he sees fit. And people think gays would ruin marriage. The question still remains whether a woman with a good driver and a decent swing could improve divorce statistics since Tiger's ex is saying she never clubbed him.

6. Former TIA Chief Louis Miller is now a finalist for a job in Atlanta. If you have ever flown in or out of both airports you would know how lucky Atlanta would be to get him and how unfortunate it is for us that we lost him (thanks in part to County Commission Chairman Ken Half Truth Hagan for helping to push him out).

7. And finally, the bill (SB 360) that dismantled what little growth management did have was considered to be unconstitutional by a judge yesterday. Recall Governor Charlie Crist signed the bill earning him one of our coveted Best of the Bay Awards last year...........Best Wide Stance on Sprawl! Maybe he can blame that mistake on still being a Republican (which he was when he signed the bill). I wonder if he would sign it now if given the chance as a closet Dem I mean NPA?

It has been quite an interesting week.

1. We learned that outgoing Hillsborough County Commissioner Jim Norman is really a college dropout (are you shocked?) The MSM still give him credit for "attending' though. I sure hope they don't pick their doctors based on attending vs graduating! Voters didn't appear to care or notice Norman's shortcomings as he handily beat opponent Kevin Ambler. Wonder how that ethics complaint regarding the claim that his wife's expensive vacation house was funded by now deceased Republican power broker Ralph Hughes will turn out? If that is true Norman could still have a lot of 'splainin' to do before he packs his bags for Tally.

2. As Chris Ingram informed us, some developer dude named David Campo thinks he controls Hillsborough County politics and wanted to take Ingram to lunch......only after telling him he was "off the reservation" in an email. I looked up Campo's campaign contributions on the SOE site and according to their records from 2006 to 2009 he has contributed to six candidates (Ken Hagan twice) for a grand total of $2450 to all six. We knew Hillsborough puppets politicians came cheap to developers but if that is all it takes to buy off votes gain control then we NIMBYS should really think about pooling our funds instead of fighting fairly. It would save so much time. My guess is he is probably only a legend in his own mind. Can one really consider themselves a power broker when they can't even get a lunch date?

3. Voters in district 3 gave the Pimpin Commish the boot.......in fact, he only won a single precinct! Wonder who will be keeping him in hot assistants and Italian suites now? Thanks to voters it will no longer be the taxpayers! Thank You District 3! This cartoon was created especially for me to use by Kermit O'Steen when some CL readers/Kevin White sympathizers called me a racist (puh-lease) for using George Niemann's graphic of White in a pimp suit. Recall White indicated that he didn't  bring his young aide on that trip for himself but for an elderly and political influential friend. We thought that sounded like a pimp defense. So it was not intended to be racist but to show we were not insensitive we took it down and had another one created but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I figured this might be the last chance so Thanks Kerm!
