That's not how you do pets.

A Winter Haven woman was arrested on Saturday after some passersby heard a noise and found her pet chihuahua inside a sealed garbage bag in a dumpster.

The passersby rescued the animal, which was microchipped, from the dumpster; the microchip led authorities back to the dog's owner, who at first claimed she'd given the chihuahua (named Diamond) away months earlier, but eventually admitted to literally throwing it away because she couldn't afford to care for it any longer.

The dog ended up dying, and the woman was charged with aggravated animal cruelty. A necropsy is being done on the pet to determine its exact cause of death; generally speaking, though, we're gonna go ahead and assume the dog's cause of death was having an asshole for an owner.
