Poo-powered Japanese motorcycle sports toilet and talks

A sustainably fueled commode of transportation.

TOTO designed the Bike Neo as part of their TOTO Green Challenge, to spread the word across Japan about cutting CO2 emissions in bathrooms and challenging Japan to reduce those emissions by 50% by the year 2017. Their rider will be traveling from Kyushu to Tokyo starting out on October 6th, making stops along to show off this innovative commode of transportation (no bathroom breaks at rest stops needed).

Here is a translated version of TOTO's Neo Bike blog (though it still doesn't make much sense in English either).

I've written about other vehicles that run on sustainable, alternative fuel sources and also about the use of waste to power everything from cars to homes, but the Toilet Bike Neo is the best of both worlds.

Why? It's a one-of-a-kind motorcycle designed by Japanese commode (a.k.a.: toilet) manufacturer TOTO that doesn't run on just any ol' biofuel. It is powered by human waste biogas. To top it all off, instead of a seat, this three-wheeler sports a toilet for easy fueling — and comfort for the rider, of course — and a tank that sits behind the rider. Plus, it has LED lights that play scrolling messages, it plays music and even talks (insert "shitty" Knight Rider pun here).
