Water Conservation Summit

Southwest Florida Water Management District and their Water Conservation Task Force sponsor a Water Conservation Summit to raise awareness of the reasons for, and benefits of, water conservation. Representatives of agriculture, business, industry, environment, local government, public supply and recreation give presentations regarding a wide range of water conservation issues, technology, processes and history. Power Wheelchairs Available

Throughout March, Miracle on Wheels makes power wheelchairs available to non-ambulatory citizens, usually at no out-of-pocket expense if they qualify. Call 1-800-749-8778, or go online towww.durablemedical.com.

Animal Services Seeks Volunteers

Pinellas County Animal Service's Volunteer Program seeks new volunteers to get involved and assist the staff and help sheltered animals. Minimum age requirement is 18. Younger applicants are accepted through school-sponsored projects at the discretion of the coordinator. Call 727-582-2648.

Free Counseling for Rape Survivors

Family Service Centers provides free counseling to rape survivors and their family and friends, as well as to victims of sexual harassment. All services are confidential and available to anyone in Pinellas County. Call 727-535-9811 or 727-530-7273.

Booklet Available About Prescription Drug Programs

The Prescription Assistance Coalition of Chicago has published a booklet, "Prescription Drug Giveaway Programs," offering information on how and where to get free and low-cost prescription drugs from under-publicized programs provided by major drug manufacturers. The Juvenile Welfare Board needs citizens throughout Pinellas County to provide input to the Board and address needs in their communities.
