Audubon Christmas Bird Count
Saturday, Dec. 22

The Clearwater Audubon Society seeks volunteers to participate in a century-old event that takes place around the world. A pre-count takes place Saturday, Dec. 15, to familiarize teams with geographic areas and procedures. Everyone is welcome to take part in this day-long field trip. Donations to the education endowment fund of Clearwater Audubon Society are also accepted. The Child Abuse Council's Holiday Store Dec. 18-20
The CAC opens its annual holiday store, which allows children involved in any of its 12 programs to receive toys for the holidays. Volunteers are needed to wrap the donated gifts. Contact Suzanne Secrest at 813-673-4646 for information on the holiday store or how you can volunteer.

Second Chance Life Skills Inc.

Human Rights Day
Sunday, Dec. 9

10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Amnesty International of Tampa Bay, in conjunction with the United Nations Human Rights Day, hosts a celebration at Largo Central Park. Events include speakers from local chapters of human rights organizations, live music from bands (including Sparky's Nightmare, Gotohells and Car Bomb Driver) and information about participating organizations. WMNF-88.5 FM, in order to encourage local independent radio, is making funds available to beginning or experienced independent radio producers. WMNF is interested in works that support and promote cultural diversity, equality, peace and social justice, whether oriented toward music or news and public affairs.
