Due to the rise in use of energy-efficient LED light bulbs, incandescent bulbs are on their way out — out of popularity and out of our homes, but that doesn't mean they need to be pitched in the trash.

Do the eco-friendly thing and recycle those old light bulbs into some fun and unique-looking decor for your home.

The light bulb planter is a chic and green way to reuse old bulbs. All you need is an incandescent light bulb, an aluminum welding rod and a few tools (needle nose pliers, Allen wrench, small hammer, etc.). Watch the video below or see photo instructions on this post from Unplggd.

This next idea is one of my favorite light bulb recycling projects: using them as terrariums. Reminiscent of a ship in a bottle, it's a garden in a glass bulb! Besides being a conversation piece on your mantle, they'd also make great little gifts for those eco-minded people in your life. Check out the instructions here on The Hipster Home.

After conquering the light bulb vase and the terrarium, why not attempt to make a light bulb chandelier? It's made from many light bulbs hung from the ceiling upside down by fishing line at different lengths, forming a sphere-like  shape and it is lit from the center by a single energy-efficient bulb. Hey, it's a great way to recycle a lot them, right?

I hope these ideas have inspired your green side and have your creative juices flowing. Let me know if you have any other unique ways to recycle or upcycle old incandescent bulbs in the comment box below.
