Retired Air Force General Lloyd "Fig" Newton endorses Michael Ciftci in Tampa City Council District 3 race

Lloyd W. "Fig"Newton, a retired Air Force four star general who was the first African-American pilot in the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, endorsed Michael Ciftci today in the Tampa City Council District 3 race.

In a statement released by the Ciftci campaign today, Newton said,

“Michael has consistently shown that he is a leader with the courage to do what's right. Above all else, that's what I look for in a public servant - strength of character and willingness to help others. I trust Michael's vision, because it is a bold step toward making Tampa work for people again.”

The endorsement is a nice pick up for Ciftci, who among his other opponents in the District 3 race include former County Commissioner Chris Hart, is a U.S. Army veteran.  The other candidates in the race include Seth Nelson, Jason Wilson and Yolie Capin.

Ciftci's got a new video up on his website as well.
