There comes a time within a far-right politician's life when he or she (mostly he) tempers his or her (mostly his) hardline views.

It's called the Great Moderation.

Generally, it happens ahead of a run in a purple state like Florida (which is a purple state, guys).

And when it comes to policy matters like environment and guns, Florida Governor Rick Scott has spent the last six months or so going through such a transition.

Which can only mean: an announcement is coming soon. And one is!

For about three years now, political prognosticators have speculated Scott, a Republican who rode the Tea Party wave into office in 2010, would run for incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson's U.S. Senate seat this year. (We sincerely apologize for this 2015 post and take partial responsibility for what has since ensued. It seemed funny at the time, but Christ, we weren't expecting any of it to actually come true.)

Anyway, Scott announced on his Facebook page this week that he is going to make his announcement on the morning of Monday, April 9. The plan, apparently, is to do the announcement via Facebook Live. (No schlepping gear to an obscenely early press conference for this reporter!)

In other words, stay tuned, amigos.
