The Elephant Walk Dispatch: RNC FYI, July 26

A spot of tea, no fishies for kids and high school football delays.

Tea Party Rally, maybe? The Unity Rally may become a reality as there are talks of it taking place outside of Raymond James Stadium. The working date and time are Aug. 26 at 5 p.m. Although nothing is official yet, the event promises to feature Tea Party bigwigs like Herman Cain and Michelle Bachman as well as Judson Phillips of the Tea Party Nation. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any updates.

No fishies for kids during RNC. The Florida Aquarium will be closed to the public from Aug. 26 through Aug. 30, reserved exclusively for RNC private parties, said public relations manager Katherine Chakour.

High school football season delayed. Hillsborough high schools will delay the season one week thanks to the Republican National Convention, with first games being played Sat., Sept. 1, at 7:30. The following games will launch the season:

Blake at Leto
Brandon at Armwood
Chamberlain at Bloomingdale
Durant at Freedom
East Bay at Lennard
Gaither at Alonso
Hillsborough at Middleton
Plant at Jesuit
Plant City at Strawberry Crest
Riverview at Spoto
Robinson at Jefferson
Steinbrenner at Sickles
Tampa Bay Tech at Newsome
Wharton at King

One common-sense reason is so they schools will have enough cops on hand to keep things in check. Athletic Director Lanness Robinson informed schools there would be "sufficient numbers of law enforcement officers and game officials" for the first games.
