If you read this blog at all, you know one of our pet peeves is the absurdly light schedule that Congress – especially this House of Representatives, led by Speaker John Boehner.

As we wrote late last year, South Florida freshman Republican lawmaker Allen West also objected to the number of days off his new job included when first given the sheet of the schedule of days that Congress was to be in session.

"We have to show the American people we are going to be different than years past," West wrote to Majority Leader Eric Cantor at the time. "We are there for one reason and one reason only, to work for the constituents of the districts we are so privileged to represent. I hope that if it becomes clear that we are not meeting the promise we made to the American people, leadership will modify the schedule in order for us to accomplish the important task we have before us."

But more downtime is actually supposed to be for "us," apparently. You know, let the men and women from D.C. get back to the grass roots and out of the cesspool that is Washington D.C., financial crises be damned. Or at least that's the line that Florida first year U.S. Senator Marco Rubio is peddling:
