Rudesquad takes it to the Edge

St. Pete ska-punks release fourth CD

On the Edge of Failure

RUDESQUAD

(D-ina-B)

St. Petersburg ska-punk favorite Rudesquad is back with its fourth CD, On the Edge of Failure. Featuring new, crisper recordings of "Porn Star" and "Friendleaver," the band doesn't digress much from its signature sound — brassy, energetic and fun. Lead singer/guitarist Eric Best is still consumed by the music, slurring through a lot of the lyrics. (Don't worry, there's a word sheet). On the Edge of Failure includes the social commentary that we've come to expect from Rudesquad, with new songs ("Battle of Central Avenue," "Drama Queen") that may remind you of some of their earlier criticism of the local scene featured on the CD No Practice. 3.5 stars
