Run that man right out of your head, one dumped girl's story

After reading Beth's inspirational post about her running journey last week I thought it best to continue this

baring of the soul and expand upon my own running journey. What better way for our readers to understand our obsession with running than to share a little piece of ourselves with you right?

My story starts in Feb 2008 with an I was a drunk emotional wreck as yet another opportunity of "happily ever after" slipped through my fingers. I realized quickly that I needed to find an outlet for my emotions, bottled up energy and sexual frustration lest my friends disown me, so I started running again. I've always ran, here and there, to get some cardio in, to help me sleep a little better but this time was different. This time I put a little more into it.

By July, I was starting to eye the upcoming 5K's and committed to the July 4th Watermelon 5K that Track Shack, in Orlando, puts on every year. With no real training other than a few runs a week and absolutely zero knowlege of how far/fast I was going I hit Mead Gardens for my first 5K. Thirty some odd minutes later I huffed and puffed my way through the finish line on the verge of puking my guts out... but I was exhilirated. I just ran a 5K!

After that 5K came another 5K... and then another... come October I saw that UCF was hosting a 5 Miler and I decided to try it out. Fourty-four minutes later I ran through the finish line knowing that there was definitely a 10K in my future. With November, brought the Celebration Founders Day 10K and a 57 min finish time. My only goal was to finish in under an hour and I did with time to spare. That's when I knew there was no turning back. The running bug had officially bitten me and I wanted more.

Within a few days of the Half I was already researching marathons and quickly decided my holy grail would be a pilgramage to Chicago for the 2009 Chicago Marathon. And that kiddies brings us to today. Six weeks out from my very first marathon and it all started because boy dumped girl and girl decided to get her run on.
