By now you've surely seen numerous blog posts about career überdouche Daryush "Roosh V” Valizadeh, famed "pickup artist" (neither words accurately apply) behind chauvinistic site Return of Kings, calling for the legalization of sexual assault on private property.
Dude, who tries to perpetuate the idea that women are of lesser intellectual faculties than men, can say whatever he wants for attention.
It's when he tries to incite his followers to put pants on, go outside for the first time in months and talk about how great legal rape would be that it gets scary.
From a post on this ding dong's Web site announcing that these sad little men will be gathering (we're not going to link that here; he doesn't deserve the traffic):
We will have 165 meetings in 43 countries for our international meetup day on February 6, 2016 at 8PM local time. Hosts have been instructed to wait at the meeting point from 8:00-8:20pm before moving on to the final location. If you arrive at the meeting point at 8:21pm, you will miss the meetup. Arriving on time within the window is absolutely paramount.
To identify your fellow tribesmen, ask the following question to a man you suspect is there for the meetup: “Do you know where I can find a pet shop?” If you are asked this question, answer in the affirmative: “Yes, it’s right here.” You can then introduce yourself and get details about where to proceed at 8:20. If you ask someone for the pet shop and they appear confused or actually try to direct you to a real pet shop, they’re not there for the meetup.
We won't spend too much time going meta on this, but the whole pet shop thing? Maybe it's a reference to how they feel about women after years and years of pathetic pick-up attempts under the assumption there are "methods" that "work" instead of, you know, treating them like humans who deserve respect.
There will be three such meetings in Florida, supposedly, on Saturday, including one in downtown Tampa's Curtis Hixon Park.
One blogger urges women to avoid the events at all costs, as they face potential harm from these losers, but urges straight white male allies to show up in full force to shame the fools back into their caves.
Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn issued a statement Wednesday afternoon condemning the group's plans to meet in Tampa.
“As a father of two girls and a Mayor of a city that has no room for this vile rhetoric, I’m disgusted that a group such as Return of Kings would congregate in Curtis Hixon. Their twisted logic and violent and vulgar behavior has no place in this world, let alone Tampa.”
