State Sen. Janet Cruz and employer program CareerSource Tampa Bay are hosting the 11th annual job fair on Wednesday, July 28, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church's Higgins Hall—where Flo Rida played a Super Bowl LV concert—from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
“ ...I am committed to ensuring our community fully recovers from the economic effects of the pandemic,” said Cruz in a Facebook post.
Over 90 employers are expected to attend the fair with up to 1,000 job openings. The job opportunities range from careers with nonprofits, health care, law enforcement, education, retail and more.
Some of the listed employers include the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA, Hillsborough Community College, the City of Tampa and Aramark.
Interestingly, the multi-million dollar corporation Aramark is widely criticized for its involvement with American prison labor and wage violations, especially by University of Florida students who have protested Aramark's food service contract with the university.
Admission is free for employers and job seekers, who can pre register at the Disaster Recovery Job Portal. Employers will offer bilingual information at the event.
Higgins Hall is at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located at 5225 N Himes Ave. near West Tampa.
