Here's what I know about Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band: The six members have been known to dress in flashy, pimp-inspired threads, complete with gold chains, sassy attitudes and nicknames like "Rescue in the Night," "Deep Digga" and "Bidness as Usual"; stage antics are a given, and Booty Band musicians shuffle from instrument to instrument regularly and with ease; though the band is based in Boone, N.C., only a few members actually hail from that area; as you may have guessed by its name, the Booty Band plays deep, groove-oriented music — funk, jazz, soul, the blues — but you can also hear measures of reggae, hip-hop and anything else that'll make you bounce. Plus, Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band is a name that rolls off your tongue in such a way that you'll want to say it, over and over again. See the band perform this weekend at Skipper's Smokehouse with Soular System, an outer-spacey funk/soul outfit from Tallahassee. Sat., April 8, 8 p.m., 910 Skipper Road, Tampa, $10/$13, 813-971-0666, www.skipperssmokehouse.com.
