A state Senate committee approved a bill that would gut Florida public-records law by removing a provision guaranteeing the recovery of legal fees for those who sue to obtain certain records and win. Basically, the bill makes it harder for people to mount a case for obtaining records that require a court order — and it's not like the hardest "public" records to get would be the ones the state government least wants the public to see, right?

Another bill, this one passed by a state House panel, would require recess in elementary schools. Yep — we're legislating recess now.
