The historic, quite possibly haunted Tampa Theatre began tearing out seats for its major renovation yesterday. Oddly, there seems to be a lot of interest in buying and installing in one's home the same seats folks complained endlessly about having to use at the classic movie house. Own An Uncomfortable Piece Of History! People are weird, man. The theater should be back in action by the end of the year.
An 82-year-old Tarpon Springs woman chased down and subdued her own purse-snatcher with a little help from some friendly passers-by, who blocked in the snatcher's car. Sometimes the ones that look like easy pickings are the ones that are gonna scratch your face clean off, so maybe don't steal. (Bonus: Breathless firsthand account of the fight included.)
A woman who attempted to pick up her kid from a Pasco elementary school without her school-issued pick-up card ended up under arrest and charged with battery. That escalated quickly.
And finally, the owners of a local liquor store chain are upset that local police don't respond more aggressively to cases of shoplifting at their Tampa location. Maybe they should hire an 82-year-old Tarpon Springs woman.
