Sh*t happened 5/15/15: Bye-bye Biltmore, accidental shooting, pot bust & more

Welcome to Friday, your preferred weekday scenario. You've traveled long and hard to get here, seen many things, heard many stories and learned many lessons. Why, just yesterday...

For better or worse, demolition of the historic Belleview Biltmore hotel in Pinellas has finally begun. No more murder-mystery dinner theater. Whodunnit? Progress, that's who. Progress dunnit.

Five people were treated for minor injuries when an idiot at the Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites reached for his wallet, and accidentally discharged his (permitted) gun instead, grazing himself and hitting the floor, causing shards of tile to fly. The idiot's name is Stan Lee. Super. Marvel-ous. (I'll show myself out.)

Tampa members of the postal workers' union staged a protest in Tampa, looking for better job security as their contract is set to expire. The USPS said it sent them a new proposal, three guesses as to why they haven't gotten it yet.

The cops seized 284 pounds of pot with a street value of more than half a million bucks during a raid in Lutz. To top it off, the guy arrested was also charged with stealing $7,000 worth of electricity through an illegal connection, which is kind of like beating somebody up and then demanding a tip for doing it.

And finally, two students at Riverview's Spoto High were arrested for stealing the proceeds from prom ticket sales by snatching the cashbox from a fellow student in the hallway. Authorities reportedly only recovered half the money from these two assholes; hope the other half wasn't spent on tux and limo rentals.
