Sh*t happened 7/7/15: Unity flag, Rays go All-Stars, Bucs license plate

What are you doing here? It's shark week! Well, as long as you stopped by...

A group of locals has started a crowdfunding campaign to raise a "unity flag" close to the now-famous Confederate battle flag that flies along I-75. Make sure you're at the raising ceremony to see it get its ass roundly kicked by the stars and bars immediately thereafter.

Tampa Bay Rays pitchers Chris Archer and Brad Boxberger made the American League All-Star team. Two pitchers? Pfft. How many do they need? But really, congratulations, gents.

Nine Tampa parks began staying open until midnight "in an effort to keep kids safe." Please join me in a rousing sing-along chorus of "That Seems Counterintuitive At Best."

And finally, the Bucs unveiled a new specialty license plate. Proceeds from the $25 registration benefit the Florida Sports Foundation Major and Regional Grant Program as well as the Glazer Family Foundation. Terminally optimistic sports fans for whom love always trumps shame can get one now.
