Sh*t happened 8/18/16: People treating animals badly, Florida health care treating people badly

It's Thursday, the day that never got a cute nickname because no cool foods begin with that "th" sound. Sorry, Thursday.

Hey, remember that worthless cretin who injured Pinky the flamingo so badly she had to be put down? There's a petition calling on Hillsborough County State Attorney Mark Ober to throw the book at the guy, who had recently served time for shooting two dogs. Are we supporting this? We are supporting this. We're supporting this like it's — damn, I have no good funny architecture similes. You get the point.

Speaking of people with a really screwed-up sense of how to treat animals, somebody stole a puppy from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. I know, right? Who does that? Apparently "a Hispanic male between the ages of 17 and 25... he had orange hair and was wearing women's clothing." The animal has been returned, but the perpetrator is still at large. Here's hoping authorities soon make the collar. BOOM! Dog joke.

Here's an update on the new St. Pete Pier. Short version: It's taking longer than expected, costing more, is constantly changing and not a whole lot has been done since the last update. So, it's a construction project, then.

And finally, Florida just got an "F" in transparency regarding health care pricing, options and information from the Health Care Incentives Improvement Institute. It's almost as if the state, run by a businessman with a background in health care, encourages opaque, confusing business practices that result in consumers paying more than they need to for medical services. But you'd be a fool and a libtard for suggesting such a thing, wouldn't you?
