Sh*t happened 9/8/15: St. Pete police, concealed weapon, Rays loss

How did you spend your Labor Day? Carping about having to return to your labors today? Yep, sounds about right. Let's waste a few minutes of company time:

FRIDAY, AUGUST 4:

Several dozen St. Petersburg Police trainers and supervisors underwent sensitivity training themselves, with a focus on understanding and respecting transgender identities when interacting with members of the public. Well done. With programs like this, hopefully we can all move boldly into the late 1990s together, as a community. (No, but seriously, well done.)

Three people were arrested in a St. Pete drug bust that netted $67,000 worth of heroin, cocaine and oxycodone. They call that one "the Keith Richards weekend."

SATURDAY, AUGUST 5:

A conservative activist who's made the news in the past for, shall we we say, saying and posting things online without thinking, apologized for his latest Facebook rant, in which he called a woman working to better Hillsborough County's public transportation system a "taxpayer subsidized slut." And they say money can't buy class...

SUNDAY, AUGUST 6:

A man enjoying a movie at Westshore Mall caused a bit of commotion when his concealed pistol slipped out of its holster and fell to the theater floor. One fellow patron who noticed the gun called the police; almost unbelievably, he himself was not shot for using his cell phone in the theater.

MONDAY, AUGUST 7:

And finally, the Rays lost a close one to the Tigers, further shrinking the team's hopes for a playoff berth. This seems suspiciously like that thing some young dudes do where they act completely incompetent at relationships in order to get their girlfriends to break up with them...
