Stageworks opens the last production of its 2006-07, The Sisters Rosensweig, Wendy Wasserstein's Tony Award-nominated dramedy about sisterhood and the transformative power of love. The plot follows three Jewish-American sisters as they reunite in London to celebrate the birthday of the eldest, Sara, a successful, several-times-divorced expatriate banker who's more than happy to live in a country "where our feelings are openly repressed." Middle sibling Gorgeous — who did everything the "right way" by marrying a lawyer and raising her children in the suburbs — rails against being considered a cliché and has reinvented herself as the host of a popular radio talk show. And Pfeni, the youngest, is a globetrotting travel writer whose fear of commitment lands her with one emotionally unavailable man after another. During the course of the play, the outer layers of each of the sisters' personalities are stripped away to reveal their individual neuroses, forcing them to face their fears and take a serious looks at how they define themselves.
