In “Introduction to Poetry,” former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins waxes on his attempts to nurture budding wordsmiths: “But all they want to do/ is tie the poem to a chair with rope/ and torture a confession out of it.” Eckerd College continues its 50th anniversary celebration with an appearance by Collins, who’s known for giving commanding, dynamic readings of his sardonic verses.
