After being appointed last month by Gov. Ron DeSantis as state chief financial officer, Republican Blaise Ingoglia has filed paperwork to run in 2026 for a full term in the Cabinet post.
Ingoglia, a former state senator from Spring Hill, opened a campaign account Friday, according to the state Division of Elections website. The filing came the same day that Sen. Joe Gruters, R-Sarasota, was elected chairman of the Republican National Committee.
Gruters had long planned to run for state CFO before getting backing in recent weeks from President Donald Trump to become party chairman. DeSantis appointed Ingoglia to succeed former Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, who won a special election this spring for a congressional seat.
