The Tampa Bay Business Journal's Baysider column is reporting that St. Petersburg economic development officials have talked with Tampa Digital Studio about abandoning its attempt to redevelop the Fort Homer Hesterly Armory in West Tampa and move to St. Pete:
Michael Piotrowski, a spokesman for Tampa Digital, said St. Pete officials
did approach company president George Cornelius about moving operations to the city, and remove itself from contention for the Armory site. Piotrowski emphasized that obtaining the property in West Tampa was the company's highest priority, but it has not yet ruled out a move to St. Petersburg.
Tampa Digital has a marketing partnership with CL, but I don't have any inside info on this. Given the delays in the city's RFP process with the Armory, it doesn't surprise me that Cornelius is keeping all options open for the relocation of his SoHo studio.
