The Sundial has seen some hefty changes over the last few months, including the closure of Locale Market and FarmTable Cucina. Now, locals can look forward to a forthcoming food hall by the partners behind Armature Works, as well as a new co-work and event space crafted by the creators behind St. Pete’s Station House and Hyde House in Tampa. The 8,300-square-foot project will be on the second level of Sundial next to Ruth’s Chris.

“When I developed Sundial, I envisioned it being a hub for the community. A place where people could come to meet one another, work, eat, shop and play,” said Sundial Owner Bill Edwards in a statement. “This new project will be just that – an epicenter for business professionals to come together to work and an environment perfect for all kinds of events. We have a great deal of exciting things planned for 2020. The welcoming of this project and the addition of the food hall from the visionaries behind Armature Works will make Sundial the most unique shopping center in Tampa Bay and one of the most visited places in downtown St. Petersburg.”

Construction for the food hall should begin within the next few months and wrap before 2021, completing its take over the former spaces of both Locale Market and FarmTable.

“We are excited to be extending our brand into the Sundial project alongside the Edwards group and the partners behind the Armature Works brand,” said Steve Gianfilippo Founder of Gianco Companies, Station House, and Hyde House shared in a statement.

“With all the exciting Food and Beverage changes planned onsite, the re-opening of the Pier district, and proximity to Beach Drive, we feel this annex location of Station House will offer our membership base and non-members another convenient location to work, play, and celebrate, via our shared office and events combo. Our model thrives with the surroundings, so planted in the heart of Sundial, neighboring the creators of Armature Works, is a win-win for us.”

Downtown St. Pete is getting a facelift, which means the parking situation may become more of a nightmare, but at least we'll have more places to eat, drink, and blow our hard-earned paychecks.

The new co-work and event space by Station House is set to be completed in 2020. By the way, all of the Sundial tenants will remain open throughout construction so you can slide by to dine at the last two restaurants open or do some window shopping.

More details to come as construction on the Sundial continues and an opening date nears.
