Stuck-In-Traffic Stumpers

A Tampa Bay road trivia quiz.

Some questions to keep you occupied as the car in front of you remains stationary:

Why does I-275 take a dogleg between Tropicana Field and the 31st Street S. exit?
That's where another expressway, identified on a 1971 map as the "Belt-Loop Corridor," was supposed to come in from the northwest.

What's the deal with the ramp on westbound I-375 heading south on I-275 in downtown St. Petersburg?
The ramp forks but just ends in the grass. Edward Ringwald, who writes a blog about I-275, says it's an aborted ramp to another highway.

Why does Dale Mabry Highway have expressway-style overpasses and ramps at Hillsborough Avenue and Busch Boulevard?
Bayciti.net (a now defunct website that tracked road plans) says it's evidence of plans to turn the road into an expressway, though DOT planner Bob Clifford believes the railroad is the reason an overpass was built at Busch Boulevard.

Will you drive home alone tonight?
Most likely.
