When CL asked Church of Scientology spokesman Peter Mansell back in late March what he had to say about The New Yorker's February article written by Lawrence Wright that featured film director Paul Haggis' story about leaving the organization, he scoffed at me.

"Who reads The New Yorker?" he scoffed.

Well, obviously David Miscavige does, as the New York Times reports that the organization has now published a 51-page glossy magazine and an accompanying three-part DVD that attempts to discredit The New Yorker, and all those writers and editors who work for it.

Of course, as Tampa Bay area residents know, this is not the first time the Church has attempted to belittle a media organization by publishing their own work.
