Politician Vernon Robinson is so unique and strident in his bashing of the left that you have to wonder why this guy isnât here in Florida with the rest of the wingers. After all, he calls himself the âblack Jesse Helms.â (He adopted the moniker after a newspaper editorial declared that Jesse Helms was back and he's black.) But we canât claim Vernon; heâs running for Congress in North Carolina, a Republican in a district represented by a liberal Democrat.
Heâs gotten plenty of national notice. The Washington Post wrote:
âIn one North Carolina congressional district, for instance, Republican challenger Vernon Robinson has aired a radio ad attacking Democratic Rep. Brad Miller with mariachi music playing in the background: âBrad Miller supports gay marriage and sponsored a bill to let American homosexuals bring their foreign homosexual lovers to this country on a marriage visa. If Miller had his way, America would be nothing but one big fiesta for illegal aliens and homosexuals.â"
Now, Robinsonâs political brain trust has come up with a pip of a TV commercial blasting not only gay marriage and illegal aliens but also the rest of the litany of conservative woes in America: judicial activism, Islamic extremists, flag burning, the lack of school prayer, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and abortion. Watch Robinsonâs latest take on the âTwilight Zoneâ (a recurring theme for him) here.
We just love the way the ad ends with a Beaver shot.
