Foreign films have a rep for being racy, and in the modern era of on-demand internet intercourse, racy pretty much means actual sex. So here are some of the streaming Netflix movies that offer more than just a few scattered shots of topless actresses:
[image-1] 9 Songs: We'll start with the obvious choice, a movie that really is just porn dressed up in indie film credentials. It's about a man and a women who go to concerts and then come home and have sex. Their relationship flowers and then dies over the course of the titular nine songs, but along the way there's plenty of explicit loveliness going on, with an ending any porno could be proud of (well, not the actual end of the movie, you know what I mean). I actually like this movie a lot, sort of even as a movie, but mostly as porn.
29 Palms: The price we pay for free streaming sex on Netflix is that there's a lot of plot and usually it's pretty depressing. This movie, about two Europeans on vacation in the American West had as depressing a finale as you're likely to see, preceded by some very unsexy rape. So yeah, not a lot of fun, but before things go bad, they're going alright for the couple, so those looking for a good time might wanna stop. Those looking for something pretty fucked up should watch the whole thing.
Battle in Heaven: Another depressing flick with some real sex. The lead actress is beautiful, but the fat man she's involved with is less than appealing. Less appealing even than Ron Jeremy. Another downer as a whole, this movie is so well made that you might want to divide your prurient and cinema-phile viewing into two different evenings.
[image-2] Anatomy of Hell: It starts off so hot, a lonely woman, a gay man, lot's of nudity. It gets graphic. Then it gets way more graphic than I want it too, involving some bodily fluids and, well, if you're really interested you can look for yourself. But that point where you're watching and she's naked and then you're like, what I think is going to happen isn't really? It totally is really. The good stuff comes AFTER that scene.
The Wayward Cloud: This quirky Japanese flick about sex and a heat wave opens with a delightfully graphic watermelon-based oral sex scene. It's not as hardcore as some on this list, but it's got more than a few sexy moments — and some not so sexy but still sex-filled ones. I'm thinking of the film within a film of pornographers shooting a shower scene, which takes all the illusion out of making a porno and yet is still both kinda hot and kinda funny.
[image-3] Exterminating Angels: Like to watch young French women masturbate? Director Jean-Claude Brisseau certainly does, as he's shown in both Secret Things (also on Netflix) and in this indulgent film about a director making movies about girls masturbating for the camera. It's therefore meta and art and full of existentialism and nudity.
The Story of O: This 70s film is actually soft core, but earns a place on the list because there's just so damn much of it. Based on the classic novel of S&M erotica, it adheres pretty closely to the book. That means a lot of talking about sex and love and submission, but also a lot of actual on-screen sex, love, and submission.
