This year, KHCB is looking especially for small groups to make a mighty impact as part of the O.B. Challenge, said KHCB Executive Director Christine Commerce. While volunteers of all ages are encouraged to participate, we are putting a special call out to people between the ages of 18 to 24 to take part in this worthwhile effort.
The event will be from 8:30 am until noon on April 17 and list of locations throughout the county will be posted on KHCB's site closer to the event date. Individual and group volunteers are asked to pre-register for a location. Volunteers should bring work gloves, closed-toed shoes and water; trash bags are provided. KHCB originated from a group of concerned residents in Hillsborough County, who saw that litter was becoming a problem based on urban growth, lack of community pride and limited knowledge of disposal options. The non-profit organization is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful Inc. The Great American Cleanup was created to communicate KABs message on the need to influence change in attitudes and behavior through hands-on involvement.
