There wasn't a whole lot of breaking news coming out of Thursday night's Emerge Tampa Bay town hall meeting on the University of Tampa campus, but the event was still entertaining.

Emerge Tampa Bay is a club of young professionals in the Tampa Bay area, and many of the questions on their minds were about transportation — namely, when is something serious going to happen about it in Hillsborough County?

Last week Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and his counterparts in Temple Terrace and Plant City met with Hillsborough County Commissioners in the first of a series of conversations designed to get a new plan together, which could include revisiting a referendum on light-rail.

Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandy Murman told the audience that part of those discussions would focus on where the employment centers in the county were, which led Brandon resident Cordell Chavis to incredulously ask her what she she talking about?

"Westshore is right there," he said referring to the biggest business district in the Tampa Bay area. "You mentioned USF. That's been there for how many years? 50-something years? That's not a new area."
