As the national debate continues over a new Arizona law requiring state police to determine whether people are in the United States legally if there is a reason to suspect they aren’t, local candidates for legislative seats here in Florida are making it a state issue.

Todd Marks is running as a Republican in Florida House District 57  (against Dana Young and Dan Malloy), and today he seized on the Arizona controversy to call for similar type of legislation here in Florida.

Though Florida definitely has its share of undocumented immigrants, Arizonans say that it has been an increase of violence inside Mexico that has led to the need for such actions as the bill that Governor Jan Brewer signed last Friday.
