Tampa Bay beekeepers can use your old political signs to save the bees

Who knew bees were political?

Now that the election is finally over, bee farms all over Tampa Bay have figured out an innovative way of getting rid of all those political signs.

Sarasota Honey Company is currently accepting any political yard signs. A post on Sarasota Honey Company’s Facebook page says recycled signs can be repurposed into an all-natural treatment to protect the bees from pests and used for other beekeeping tricks.

We can put them under our hives to keep them warm when it gets chilly at night. All our hives have screen bottom boards that keep them cool most of the year,” the company added.

Other bee farms are getting in on the action to make sure the local bee community stays safe and warm. Linda DiGloria, owner of Glory Bee Farms, is currently accepting signs to pass along to the Pinellas County Beekeepers Association

“I just got signs two days ago and a friend mine says ‘Do you have enough signs?’,” DiGloria said, adding that people can donate signs by calling 727-238-7697 and arranging a drop off time.

Signs for the Sarasota Honey Company can be dropped off at its store at 2227 University Pky., Tues.-Wed. from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and Thurs.-Sat. from noon-6 p.m.

No word on whether Trump or Biden signs work better, but I bet voters have an opinion on that.
