When Trump referred to himself as โthe kingโ in February, it didnโt go over quite as well as when Elvis did it.
The first national โNo Kingsโ day on June 14โheld at the same time as the U.S. Army anniversary parade and Trump’s birthdayโdrew more than five million protesters across all 50 states. And the action outside Tampa City Hall also attracted Proud Boys and MAGA counter-protesters. One pro-Trump firefighter even lost his job after his behavior.
Tampa and many other Florida cities join the movement again for Saturdayโs mobilization. More than a dozen protests are scheduled across the Tampa Bay area, joining 2,500 community events across the nation.
But Trump may take action of his own. In response to anti-ICE protests, heโs attempted to deploy the national guard, considered invoking the Insurrection Act, and designated the ambiguous โAntifaโ a terrorist organization.
