Eddie Geller launched his democratic congressional campaign for District 15 in Florida today with a video that’s basically a ‘90s sitcom jingle.

In the video, the former comedian and activist performs a series of sitcom intro scenes, with aspects of his campaign platform in the subtitles.

The series of scenes are kitschy, and bring to mind the classic sitcoms of the '80s and early '90s. The jingle that goes along with the video is especially reminiscent of the “Family Matters” theme song, “As Days Go By.” After an hour, the Tweet had more than 26 thousand views.

The video outlines Geller’s progressive platform, calling for taking on corporate corruption in D.C., universal healthcare, and a cleaner environment. There’s also a message about protecting families, showing Geller wearing a mask and acting out receiving a vaccine.

“We need more representatives who will fight the good fight, on issues people actually care about and make a difference in their lives,” Geller says to the camera at the end of the video, after the sitcom scenes end. “Good jobs, universal healthcare, fighting the climate crisis, defending our democracy and stopping corruption.

District 15 covers the northern parts of Hillsborough and Polk counties as well as the southernmost parts of Lake County. The district includes Brandon, Plant City, Lakeland and Bartow. These are historically not the most progressive parts of Florida, but Geller lays out a campaign that he hopes will bring people together, no matter their views.

“I don’t think we get things done by endlessly fighting about the things we disagree on, rather than working on the issues where there’s common ground,” Geller writes on his campaign website

According to his site, one of Geller’s first jobs was at Chuck E. Cheese off of U.S. Hwy-19, where a friendship with his boss led to a lifelong passion for punk rock and all things that run counter to the traditional way of doing things.

After graduating from the University of Florida, Geller spent time as a stand-up comedian, activist, and video producer. He also played a frat guy in 2012’s "For a Good Time, Call…"

Now that he’s launched his campaign, he’s asking for people’s support to wage a successful campaign.

“Come join me at eddiegeller dot com and we can win this fight together,” Geller says at the end of his campaign video. “And if that means I need to write 100 more jingles, so help me, I will.”
