Tampa Theatre will hopefully get another 100 years, but it’s not being shy about the centennial celebration this weekend.
The parties mark the official end of a restoration that started in March so that the historic auditorium and other areas could be brought back to their 1920s glory. There’s even a book about the venue penned by late Tampa historian, author and librarian Andy Huse.
A full week of activities is on the agenda, and members get the first look on Saturday. The public is welcome to an open house on Sunday (1 p.m.-5 p.m.), complete with mini-tours.
The movies start on Monday, with a screening of “Casablanca,” and next Thursday there’s a giant (sold-out) 100th birthday party that will have a sidewalk activation and special ceremony inside where the mighty Wurlitzer will score the 1924 silent comedy “Sherlock Jr.”
Get more information on those festivities, and more things to do in Tampa Bay between Oct. 8-15, below.
