His nephew, John LoScalzo, told CL that Vincent died peacefully and surrounded by family, fulfilling his final wish.
Vincent is mentioned twice in a 2024 book, “Sunshine State Mafia,” alleging that in the late-’80s, he became the don of Tampa’s infamous Trafficante family.
“…no one did business of any magnitude in the Sunshine State without the consent and if desired the participation of the Trafficante family in Tampa,” author Doug Kelly wrote.
“It’s no secret that the media and the public often viewed him as the alleged boss of the Trafficante family; those who knew him well understood that he was much more than that,” John, a local educator and chef, added. “He was a successful entrepreneur, a dedicated businessman, a loyal friend, and a cherished family member—serving as a brother, father, beloved husband, uncle, grandfather, and, most recently, great-grandfather.”
Vincent LoScalzo was born in 1937 in Alessandria della Rocca, Sicily, and later immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in Tampa, according to his nephew.
“There was no one more loving than him,” John told CL, “And he was that way with his entire family—his purpose in life was to be a family man.”
Details on a funeral were not available.
