Tampa drivers to get fined for going thru red lights (in some parts of the city), Democrats say they won't capitulate to GOP on funding Planned Parenthood in budget battle, and new film look at Cleveland mafia in the 1970's: Mitch Perry Report 4.8.11

Happy Friday to you all - don't you dig the higher humidity coming our way? A Tampa Trib article says that we may be getting record high temperatures for this time of the year this weekend. Fun!

Domestically it's all about John Boehner vs. Barack Obama and Harry Reid as the government shutdown looms large.  House Speaker Boehner seems to be fully on the tea party express, meaning he probably won't budge - but can we ask why Planned Parenthood's funding is part of this debate?

Yesterday the Tampa City Council narrowly approved a proposal to bring red light cameras to 20 of the city's worst intersections in terms of accidents later this year.  And over at the St. Pete City Council, there was a little friction between the Mayor and one Council member over the homeless.

A specific allegation is looked into in today's St. Pete Times regarding suspended HART CEO David Armijo - you the reader will have to decide how serious that is.

You may have heard that the Church of Scientology has moved into Ybor Square recently- and that they're CL's landlord.  Our story can he read here.

And there are several new films coming out this weekend.  We have a review of one very entertaining true story about a union man gone wrong - but he is very charismatic.  Kill the Irishman may not be as good as Goodfellas, but it is set in Cleveland and not New York, after all.
