After calls to close in the hopes of protecting some of Florida’s most vulnerable people (seniors), all Seminole casinos—including the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa—have announced a voluntary closure starting 6 p.m. on Friday, March 20.
A release said hotel guests will be contacted directly to accommodate their current bookings and needs, wherever possible.
“This decision was not taken lightly as Seminole Gaming employs nearly 14,000 Seminole Gaming team members in the state,” the release added. “The goal has been to protect their livelihood without jeopardizing public safety. We have now reached a point where we do not feel comfortable taking that risk.”
The closure comes a week after the Tampa venue’s Hard Rock Event Center canceled its shows and all Hard Rock Tampa pool parties until Mid-April. Live entertainment had continued at the bars afterwards, much to the chagrin of politicians like Rep. Jackie Toledo, and even DJs like Tampa’s own DJ Ku.
