The airport announced a "Name That Flamingo" contest this morning, and besides some serious bragging rights, the winner also score a "VIP Experience" package to Busch Gardens, which includes four single-day tickets, dining passes, quick queue unlimited passes, and preferred parking.
And, because this is an airport contest, the winner will also receive four nonstop, roundtrip tickets on Silver Airways, and an invite to the naming ceremony.
Voting starts today, and runs through Dec. 6. Submissions can be entered at namtheflamingo.com. TPA staff will select their top three names, and public voting will begin on Monday, Dec. 12.
The winning name will then be revealed via TPA's social media accounts on Friday, Dec. 16.
Created by artist Matthew Mazzotta, the Best of the Bay-winning sculpture is called "Home" and is regular stop for tourist photos and selfies. It also has already been given the unofficial name of "Tia," but that doesn't mean it shouldn't get a superior new name like Flam, or Big Pinky, or as one TPA social media commenter suggested "Herald."
