On Saturday the Tampa Tribune endorsed candidates in City Council Districts 4-7.
In District 7 (New Tampa), the paper is bypassing incumbent Joseph Caetano for Lisa Montelione, who entered the race at nearly the last hour. The editorial board calls her the best choice for the district because:
She knows the whole county and understands that downtown investment is necessary to encourage corporate relocation. Montelione is right that the city must better adjust to the economic downtown, the same as business.
A former employee of the county planning and growth management department, she would review city codes to make Tampa more business-friendly.
Because of her demeanor and experience, for District 7, the Tribune endorses Lisa Montelione.
