After 23 seasons, it appears Tom Brady has had enough, for real this time.

The 45-year-old future Hall of Famer officially retired this morning, posting a video to his social media channels showing him saying his goodbyes while sitting alone on some sand dunes on a cloudy beach somewhere.

While surely he means it this time, as usual Twitter had a lot to say about this morning’s Dรฉjร  Vu moment.

While the future may not be too bright for the Bucs, who are now stuck with dead salary cap space, no extra draft picks, and a lot of aging veterans, the seven-time Super Bowl champ has his whole life ahead of him.

As quite a few Twitter users pointed out, Brady will now have plenty of time to reconnect with his family, get used to a cushy TV job, and maybe even find out exactly how much eggs cost.

Here are some of the better tweets about today’s big announcement…

Books to look forward to in 2025

โ€™Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarrosโ€™ The stakes are even higher in the third Fourth Wing book. Yes, there are dragons and sexy times, but the exploration of revisionist history and the moral grayness of military might have me fully engaged. Jan. 21, 2025
โ€™Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear by Alexander Freedโ€™ Star Wars has this uncanny ability to provide the stories we need exactly when we need them. Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear comes out in February and explores the earliest days of the Galactic Empire through the politicians and figures who will eventually form the Rebel Alliance. Feb. 25, 2025

the pitchers who didn't wear the pride logo posted a 13.5 ERA (and earned the loss in relief). that kinda feels like a sign to me. https://t.co/Qa53aNnJVQ— Neverending Corey (@CoreyNever) June 6, 2022

Non-Florida authors

These are some of the best and most talked about new books I read in 2024.
When the Moon Hatched By Sarah A. Parkerโ€™ A sweeping, romantic high fantasy with a deeply immersive, dragon-filled world and intricate magic system. With so much heartbreak and hope, thereโ€™s no wonder When the Moon Hatched is a darling of the romantasy genre this year.
โ€™House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maasโ€™ Every new Sarah J. Maas book is the must-read of the season, and the hype for HOFAS reached a fever pitch with midnight release parties around the country. The book turned out to be an intense and dizzying conclusion to the Crescent City trilogy.
โ€™The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire by Dr. Chris Kempshallโ€™ Ever wanted to read a Star Wars history textbook? Well, this one charts the events of the Skywalker Saga, delving into the politics and government actions that led to the rise of the fascistic Galactic Empire. Fiction, but eerily parallels some of our own political and cultural issues.
โ€™A Monsoon Rising by Thea Guanzonโ€™ Not Star Wars, but Star Wars inspired with dragons and a unique magic system set in a fantastical, Philippines-inspired world. A Monsoon Rising is the second book in The Hurricane Wars trilogy of high fantasy with simmering romance.
Special mention: โ€˜Mistborn and the Stormlight Archiveโ€™ Love for Brandon Sandersonโ€™s Cosmere books hit an all-time high this year thanks to his newest book, the fifth in the Stormlight Archive series. Heโ€™s my most-read author for 2024, and his books have literally altered my brain chemistry. Journey before destination.
I love that Rays player invoking the gay "lifestyle." He should met this gay couple we're friends with. Just had a kid. Living on no sleep. Constantly covered with barf and poop. Consider eating a pizza and watching 3/4 of a TV show a "victory."What a threatening "lifestyle."— Craig Calcaterra (@craigcalcaterra) June 6, 2022

Itโ€™s important to remember many people still believe our right to exist and have equal rights is inherently wrong or evil. This is why pride, even in its complicated commercialized form, is critical. https://t.co/dS1OgP5SRr— Greg Brinck (@gregbrinck) June 6, 2022

As meticulously planned out as Tom Brady seems to be, I wonder if this wasnโ€™t almost entirely impromptu.Itโ€™s like he was on a jog and said โ€œthatโ€™s itโ€ฆ itโ€™s time.โ€I can relate.
