The St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Texas Rangers 10-9 in an 11-inning thriller, a harbinger of their improbable Series win. Cardinals fans ecstatic. Rays fans (and other Rangers haters) get to enjoy a nice dose of schadenfreude.

SUNDAY 30

A harsh pre-Halloween snowstorm rips through the Northeast, prompting poolside Bay area residents to call their relatives up north and check in on things.

MONDAY 31

After a rainy start, Halloween weather was ideal for trick or treating, allowing Bay area ghouls and ghosts to set their dental health back several years.

TUESDAY 1
