The Future of Journalism

Rant Warning:

OK, so we hear so much about the future of journalism and how the MSM is screwing up the business and it has lost its way, blah blah blah. There is a lot to be said for the claim that newspapers are just giving the public what it wants. Witness: as I write this, tbo.com's most viewed page list carried the headline, "Homeless Couple Busted for Sex Behind Store."

Seriously, WTF does that story have to do with our society in Tampa Bay? How does it make a reader's life fuller and richer? Or solve important social issues of the day?

C'mon people, stop obsessing about sex and start reading some important shit. Like the commemoration of Elvis' dining at Nicko's in Seminole Heights.
